I am just about into my third trimester. I have found books that say anywhere from 26 to 28 weeks for the third trimester. Wow, time sure is flying. The fact that I am so busy at work is not helping! It occurred to me this morning that I should probably figure out when my last day of work will be. This is going to take some thought and some serious planning! I have a good idea of what I would like to do but there are so many things to take into consideration like money, how long it will take to get my maternity, how much time I will need off, how much the government will pay me, the best date to claim as my leave date, when am I aloud to take maternity….. and much more. I have some research ahead of me! I would like to figure it out soon so I can inform my work as I would like to give as much notice as I can.
One major worry off my mind is that my mom has offered to take the baby when I return to work after the year. This is a huge weight of my shoulders in many ways!
This weekend we went to my in-laws after our dinner out and a morning of garage saling. We went up to see Trevor's family including his great Aunt Louis and her boyfriend Bob as they only make a yearly trip up here. Due to the fact that they will not be able to make it up for my baby shower they decided to give us our gift for the baby. Louis and Bob if you are reading this I would like to say Thank you from the bottom of my and Trevor's hearts for your very generous gift! I can not put into words how much it meant to us and how much we appreciated it. Now to fill everyone is as to what this gift was. They gave us two huge containers full of baby stuff including four beautifully knit sweater and hat sets, many pajamas, sheets, blankets, bath stuff, socks, a teddy bear and many other items. This gift alone made me feel so much more prepared for our wee one. It makes me feel so good knowing that our wee baby is already so loved.
I am slowly starting to experience the later side effects of pregnancy. The leg cramps I have been getting at night are worse. I woke up a few nights ago and had one in both calves, ouch! My lower back is getting sore and I am experiencing a lot of side stitches like I used to get if I ate before I worked out! Also I am now so glad that I bought that body pillow because all of a sudden sleeping on my side got uncomfortable. It feels like my belly is pulling on my back. A body pillow makes the world of difference! Also, my belly is getting bigger by the day!
Speaking of getting bigger. I gained another 3 pounds this week. This puts me over my "normal weight" by 2 pounds. That is OK with me. It will all work itself out in the end and it is worth it for our baby. I'll just keep walking in the evenings and trying to eat as healthy as I can.
I am hoping to get out for some more garage saling this weekend to see what kind of bargains I can find. The more I get for the baby the better I feel!
Alright I guess that is it for this week. Oh yes one more thing, I go for my glucose testing on Monday morning. The day after I read about it in "What to Expect when you are expecting" my OB suggests I go! Gosh I love that book! I'll keep y'all posted.
Take care,
Wendy
