I just added a Pregnancy Weight Gain Calculator and a note about pregnancy weight gain that I got of a medical site that I use all of the time. It is very handy!
I just had my 25 week OB appointment; everything went well and looks good. I will go back in 3 weeks when I am 28 weeks and then start going every two weeks until I pop! It looks we are coming to the home stretch soon! So exciting! The OB wants to wait until I am 32 weeks to have my last ultrasound just so that the baby is developed enough to see everything because this will be my last one. Hopefully she will not be modest! It would be nice to confirm the sex. There is always that lingering feeling in the back of my mind that we could still have a boy. The only pink we have bought are outfits though. All of the bedding, stroller and big stuff are unisex. I am going to stop buying new pink clothes for now anyways unless I see them at garage sales. As I imagine I will get lots at my baby shower.
Speaking of baby showers Trevor and I registered at Wal-Mart on Friday night. It was great fun and is perfect as people can access it at any Wal-Mart. We did not put any of the large items we have left on there as we do not expect people to purchase them for us and we hope to get most of them at a huge garage sale we are going to this weekend. From the inventory that I have taken of what we have I figure all we need for larger items are a swing, pack 'n play (play pen), exercauser and a change table. No to bad! I was kind of in a wee bit of a panic as I was worried that I still needed so much stuff and then we went to Wal-Mart to register and this just confirmed the fact! But then I got to thinking that most of the stuff we registered for was only small stuff and we still have an entire summer of garage sales left!
I was up late last night as I was worried that I had not felt any movement yesterday so around 11:30 I decided to try turning the lights off in my room and shining a flash light on my tummy. Well it got the baby moving! I think it was probably just because I was poking myself with the flash light but it worked. My OB said to sit down with a good book and drink a can a Pepsi to get the baby moving. I think that would get me moving too! I have not had regular pop, except for the accidental sip here and there of Trevor's in years.
I have not been feeling too bad except for the odd heartburn and some wicked Charlie horses at night! My OB said to massage my calves and that would help with the muscle spasms. Other than that though I feel good, huge but good. I remember the first time I went maternity clothes shopping and how baffled I was as to why woman would by pregnancy t-shirts or tank tops. I thought "why wouldn't they just by bigger ones?" Well now I know why! So far I have been getting away with wearing my bigger t-shirts and sweaters but in the last few weeks my wee belly is not so wee anymore and all my shirts are defying gravity and heading up my belly!! All you moms out there know what I am talking about! Ah ha this is why maternity shirts are so long and why they also have a built in bump! Duh Wendy! So needless to say unless I want the whole world looking at my belly button I will need to go get me some maternity shirts! Plus with the hot weather well on it's way I'll need some shorts too or it will be a long summer.
As for my weight, I am up 3.5 pounds this week. The OB said I would gain in spurts and since I lost half a pound last week I guess that is good. According to my trusty weight gain calculator , I am right on track. I am at the higher end but I am "normal" if I put my start weight in at 150lbs! It was actually 149.5 but who is going to argue over .5 pounds!
I guess that is it for me, I know I said it before but I'll say it again "Gosh time is flying!"
Take care,
Wendy
EDIT: 19-May-06 I added a new belly shot. I am looking much rounder!
First off: Congratulations Paulene!!! She is pregnant!!! Most of you who read my journals on a regular basis know that Paulene has been my main inspiration for my website and we have created an invaluable friendship and support system along our journeys. Paulene and her husband Simon had a very difficult time conceiving their first child, but along with some help form doctors they had Caleb. This time though it just happened and she could not be more thrilled! Even once my journey took on a different direction when I found out I was expecting in December, Paulene has been nothing but supportive and completely there for me, giving me the odd kick in the but when I got down about my pregnancy weight gain. I can not even put into words how excited I am that Paulene and I get to be pregnant at the same time and be in the same situation to support each other. So exciting! It looks like the pregnancy bug made its way to Australia!!!
I am feeling pretty good. I think this must be the homey moon stage of pregnancy! I have been feeling the baby more and more lately. I have not been able to see the movements yet and Trevor has yet to feel her but she is wiggling away in there.
I am beginning to feel those "Oh my God Trevor and I are going to parents in 16 weeks" feelings! The last few days I had been feeling slightly overwhelmed by it all! But I sat down and had a talk with Trevor and he made me feel so much better. I guess all soon to be new parents have these new baby jitters!
Also, the feeling of not being prepared has reared its ugly head. I am the queen of lists you see, so I thought having a check list of everything I could need for baby would be a good idea…. Wrong! Oh my God we need a lot of stuff! I really felt like I had tons of stuff and was we were well on our way to being prepared but we are not even close! I think this weekend I will sit down and go through the ton of clothes that we have and take inventory of exactly what we have and in what sizes. This I think will make me feel better. Plus I have decided that now that I am 6 months, yes that is what I said, 6 months pregnant that it is time to start buying things other than clothes, like diapers!
On the weight front, I have been trying to eat lots of good stuff. I seem to be eating a lot of grapefruit and cucumbers!! This week I lost half a pound but I am not too concerned. I know I have been eating plenty and mostly good stuff. I have been getting out for my walks at least 4 days a week for 45 minutes and I am happy with that. As long as I keep moving!
Oh yes, check this out: Pregnancy Tips. I have added a pregnancy date calculator that is very handy. I use it every couple of days to see where I am at.

I finally got out garage saleing this weekend even though it was raining. I drug Trevor and my father-in-law Jimmy out in the rain to see what baby goodies we could find. I had kind of given up when we came across a garage sale that was not in the newspaper and they had a garage full of baby stuff!!! For $11 I got a ton of pajamas, onezies, hats, bibs, sweaters, dresses, burp clothes and cute wee outfits. Also, my father-in-law Jim bought us a Safety 1St bouncer (see photo to right) that has netting that covers it for outside and it vibrates for $20. I found it on the internet for $129 US dollars! I was very pleased with my purchases but have realized that it is time to clean out the closet in the baby's room so we can put baby stuff in there!
