Wiggling

Apr 26 2006

I felt the baby!!! I finally felt my wee girl in there wiggling around yesterday! I was told it might feel like bubbles popping, but it was not like that at all. It was like a wee monster inside me trying to escape by kicking me! It happened yesterday around 4:30! It was like someone snuck under my desk and poked me in the belly. It took me a moment to realize what had happened and then I got all teary eyed and she did it again! I then did not feel anything else until this morning about 7:00. I think she was doing her morning work out in there. What a feeling!

For those of you who have not seen them yet, I finally got around to taking some belly shots! You can see them on my baby photos page.

I wanted to congratulate my cousin Christine and her husband Corey. They had a beautiful baby boy on Friday, 7lbs 1oz and they named him Colton! We went to see them on Saturday and I got to hold him! It was amazing! It was all good until we went to leave and he woke up in her arms and gazed into her eyes and then I lost it! The tears were rolling down my face! I seem to do a lot of that lately. The cool thing is, me and her were very close growing up as we are only 6 months apart. I was married in May of 2004 and she was married in September of 2004 and our children will be only 4 months apart! Anyways Congratulations Christine and Corey, he's beautiful!

Going to the hospital kind of brought what is going to happen to Trevor and I in September to a reality! That will be us!! So exciting, yet kind of scary!

Good news, Trevor and I bought a crib, mattress and a bedding set (see photo on the right)! Well not all of it but we did get the bumber pads, sheet, ruffle and the mobile. It is baby bugs and is so cute. We have it all set up in the baby's room, we both spend a lot of time in there listening to the mobile and looking at the crib. One more big item bought! It is such a relief to have the crib all set up and the stroller! I always wanted that TV moment where you see the young pregnant couple setting up the crib in the nursery! Well, I got it now!

I seem to be feeling pretty good, except for the odd bought of nausea returning! I though that was over with! I guess not. It is not even close to they way it was before, so I can deal with it. One other thing, as my doctor would say "I seem to be having problems with my water works"! I.e. a bladder infection. Yuck! I always feel like I need to go to the bathroom! I though maybe it was the baby sitting on my bladder but apparently it could be an infection and when you are pregnant they take "could be" as a good reason to start antibiotics. Baby safe ones of course! But as any woman knows, what do antibiotics cause…… lets just hope I do not get one of those too!!!

This week my weight staid the same. I will admit it was kind of a relief as I was getting quite concerned about those 3 pound gains! So I am still on target!

Well, I see my OB tomorrow, so I'll keep everyone posted. I hope we get to go over my ultrasound photos from when I got them done at 17 weeks. I really hope he goes over them and explains them all and if all her parts look good. Also I will get to find out when I will get my next ultrasound! I love going to the OB, so much fun!

Alrighty, that is it from my pregnant little world!

Take care,

Wendy

20 Weeks!!

Apr 19 2006

Sorry for not posting again last week. I have been very busy!

So far I seem to be feeling pretty good. I feel huge though! I feel like my stomach is sticking way out. I can not even imagine what I will feel like at 9 months! I have been much heavier than I am now and I have never felt this fat! I guess because it is all in one spot! I promise a belly shot soon!

Last night I discovered a new side effect of pregnancy at 3:00 am! Charlie Horses in my calves! Ouch! That got me out of bed pretty fast! My calf is still aching!

I think I felt her yesterday too!!! It was a gentle tap tap below my belly button. Definitely not some thing I have felt before. Although I have not felt anything since. I have tried relaxing and poking my belly and I can't seem to get her to move.

So here it is the honest truth. Another reason I did not post last week is because I am having a hard time dealing with the weight gain. I spent so long trying to get down to a healthy weight and now I am watching it pile back on. Don't get me wrong I would do anything to keep this baby healthy but it is hard to swallow those gains, especially the big one each and every week! I was doing well and then all of a sudden in the last three weeks I have gone from 159.5lbs to 166lbs! Holy Shit! That is 6.5 pounds in three weeks! I panicked! This puts me up a total of 16.5 pounds! But then I sat down and thought about it and realized that I am now half way so if I double that it is 33 lbs. Whish is not bad at all, I was thinking 40! I must keep in mind to that I will not know exactly how much I have actually gained until I give birth and then let things settle a little. My friend said she gained 45 lbs and lost it all right after giving birth and breast feeding. That made me feel so much better. Al so, I have been eating like a mad man! Apparently the baby does a lot of growing right now, well so do I!! I am trying to control the food intake a little better and to stop indulging quite so often now that Easter is behind us! Plus I hope to get out for a walk at least 4 days a week for an hour or more. I must keep moving! Besides, I have been this Weight Gain Calculator to calculate my approximate weight gain and I am only a pound off if I put in my starting weight as 150lbs. What ever makes me feel beter!

I do not know if I will return to the gym until after the baby is born. I think walking will do from now until afterwards. It sure would be nice to have a few months left to my membership to go back to after the baby is born. It will be hard to afford the $450 a year fees. Plus I have to remember I have been told to take it easy and with the nice weather here I will keep walking.

I am actually quite disappointed today as we were given a crib and I was all excited to have it set up and we checked the date on it and it was made in 1986! We just are not comfortable putting or wee one in a 20 year old crib. Health Canada said all cribs made after September of 1986 will follow the safety regulations. I have not checked the month yet, but that is old!

I am so excited about going to garage sales this summer! I hope to get lots for the baby. I was at on one Saturday and I got a cuddle bag which is normally $60 for $10 and it is almost brand new! So much fun!

I am off to another OB appointment next Thursday! So exciting! I love going and hearing the heart beat. Plus hopefully he will go over my ultrasound photos from a few weeks ago. Plus I will find out if I need to go to another ultrasound before my last one at 32 weeks (I think it is as 32 weeks!).

I'll keep y'all posted.

Take care,

Wendy
