Mount Everest

Nov 18 2005

It is Friday. Yippee! Gosh time sure is flying. It is almost Christmas!!!

Last night I did my usual 1 hour of cardio, 30 minutes on the elliptical level 12 cross trainer (thought I would put it up a level!) and 30 minutes on the bike, random, level 12! OK, level 12 is next to impossible on the bike! Holy shit it was hard. I was seating buckets in about a minute! It felt like I was trying to bike up Mount Everest! But I did it for 30 minutes! I then dragged my but out of bed this morning for a 7 am work out! Did I mention that I am so not a working out in the morning person? Actually I am not a morning person at all! I have absolutely no energy in the morning and usually my body feels very stiff from the workout from the night before. Especially this morning after my 30 minutes on the bike at level 12!!!! I tried to do level 12 again this morning on the bike. Well that was wishful thinking! I did it for about 3 minutes but then the damn thing turned itself off because I was not peddling fast enough!!! I just did not have the strength in my legs to pedal at that high of a resistance. So I put it down to level 11 and did 40 minutes. You would be surprised what going down 1 level does!! I then did ten minutes on the elliptical at level 12 and 25 minutes of weight lifting including 75 crunches. The only thing that gets me through a morning work out is knowing that I will get to go home straight after work!

I have made a lot of friends at the gym over the 5 years I have been going there. I used to always talk to one girl who started at the gym around the same time as me and while I was losing weight she also lost a ton of weight and looked awesome. I think she moved away for a while so I did not see her for almost a year and when I saw her in July back at the gym she was very pregnant. She goes to the gym during the day so I don't normally see her, except for this morning because I was there bright and early! Well she had a baby boy in August! Well she gained a lot of the weight back but she was back at the gym working out really hard! I am so afraid of this! I so don't want to spend all this time trying to get to goal and then when we decide to have kids, gain it all back!!! She said one thing she regrets doing is that when she found out she was pregnant she stopped working out for the first few months and then got back to the gym. My doctor told me not to worry, that when I do get to goal and then have kids I can continue to work out just like I always have! He said I would not need to change any part of my work out routine, until I could not physically do it! Once I do decide to have kids, I did not want to stop working out because I would gain weight even if I ate like a bird!!!

Well I am off to my in-laws again tonight for the weekend. I am taking all my own food with me again. This seems to work best for me. This is the last weekend of hunting season. Once this is over it is time to get into Christmas shopping mode!

My eating has been good all week. I have been sticking to my 20 points a day. Oh ya, I had a few wee bites of some very yummy chocolate cheese cake. But it was so worth it and it was only about 4 small bites (I'll call that 2 points...)!!! It is one of the guys at works birthday and the owner's wife made him the cheesecake and the owner bought everyone Subway. I had the Atkins wrap with a subway club, no cheese, lots of veggies and low fat honey mustard dressing. It was delish and only 3 points!!! I got this idea from the Hungry Girl website. She does reviews of all sorts of restaurants and diet friendly foods and answers questions. It is an awesome sight to get tips from! I subscribe to the newsletter. It is very informative!

I think I might use some of my flex points on Saturday though. I find I have to keep changing things up or my weight loss gets stuck. I find it helps to put a higher point day in there every now and then. I think I will splurge and have the chili with a bun at Tim Horton's on Saturday. I think it ends up being about 10 points if you eat the bun and no butter. Usually I eat half of the bun and get a whole wheat one to save a few points. Mmmm sounds good!!! I will see how I feel Saturday. I find once I get on a role I hate to eat my flex points. But I must eat them once in a while to change things up and not deprive myself. Also, I must resist the temptation to continue eating once I do have a treat! I have a plan though! As long as I have a plan!

Alrighty that is it for me, I am of to my in-laws! I'll most likely be back over the weekend because if I am typing I am not eating!!

Have a good one!

Realization

Nov 17 2005

I am feeling much better today. I went home straight after work instead of going to the gym to see Trevor and to discuss our crappy news! It is something that we can not control and will just take time to work it self out!

I was very proud of myself though, because once Trevor and I had a chat I decided I should go to the gym for a little while at least. So I got there and found out that my class was cancelled anyways, probably due to the fact that the instructor Tanya is doing a pro-fight this weekend! So I thought to myself, well I am an hour late getting here so I will do some cardio and then leave. So I did my usual 30 minutes on the bike at level 10 random and 30 minutes on the elliptical at level 12 (thought I would bump it up a level!). By then it was 6:50 and I got to thinking oh well I am here anyways and it only takes me another 25 minutes to do weights. So I did them!

It was good though that I went home before going to the gym because I got a phone call that a good friend of mine gave birth to a baby girl at 4:30 last night. Congratulations Rowan and John and welcome into the world Jessy! I went to see them at the hospital. The baby is beautiful, all 5.5 pounds of her! I have never been around a baby that is only a few hours old! As I was holding her I got to thinking of some of the stuff that is going on in my life and it made me realize what the important things are. I realized that this is what life is all about. Not necessarily having babies but moments like that. I watched my friend slowly grow and glow over nine months and then all of a sudden they have a baby girl! It is such a miracle! As if I am 29 years old and just figuring this out now! A lot of my girlfriends have babies, but they were all living far away when they had them, so I never got to experience the whole process before.

Well I am off to the gym tonight to do 30 minutes on the elliptical and bike and then I am going again tomorrow morning to do my usual Friday work out because we are heading to my in-laws for the last weekend of hunting season. I am usually busy in the morning between 7-9 but I have been able to free up some time the last few weeks. We are always in such a rush on Friday nights when we go to my in-laws. So I figured if I got home at 5 instead of 7, Trevor and I could spend a little time together before we left!

I am going to bring my weights with me again in hopes that I have a weight lifting work out on Sunday…. But if not that is OK! I will get more into Sunday work outs next weekend when I am at home! I will defiantly have another on program weekend! I am bringing all my own food again. Although this time I am brining more Blue Menu microwave dinners. I love these and I can not find them where my in-laws live. It is nice to have a quick and healthy hot meal!

Anyways I have lots to do today so that is it for now.

Have a great snowy day!

Wendy
